About Anna
Hello, I am Anna Piechota, a UKCP-registered integrative psychotherapist working with adults at HQ Therapy Rooms at Highbury Fields.
How I work
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life. You may be going through a difficult period, feeling anxious or overwhelmed, struggling in your relationships, adjusting to change or loss, or feeling uncertain about yourself and your place in the world. You may also simply have a sense that something is not quite right and want a space to understand yourself more deeply.
I believe that the relationship we build together is at the heart of therapy. I aim to create a space where you can feel heard, understood and able to explore aspects of yourself that may be difficult to make sense of alone.
In our sessions, we can explore both what is happening in your life now and the experiences that have shaped you. We may look at recurring patterns in your relationships, how you relate to yourself and others, and how past experiences continue to influence the present. Together, we can develop a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings and ways of relating, while considering the possibilities for change.
My approach is integrative, which means that I draw on different therapeutic traditions, including psychodynamic, humanistic, and existential perspectives. Rather than using one approach for everyone, I tailor the therapy to you, your experiences and what you need from our work together.
I offer an inclusive space and work sensitively with your cultural background, ethnicity, beliefs, sexuality, relationships and identity.
What to expect in therapy
Our first sessions are an opportunity for us to get to know one another and explore what has brought you to therapy. We can talk about what is happening for you now, what you would like to understand or change, and what you hope to gain from therapy.
You do not need to know exactly what you want to say or where to begin. We can start with what feels most important to you now and take it from there, at a pace that feels manageable.
Areas I work with
I have experience supporting clients with:
- Anxiety & Feeling Overwhelmed
- Depression and low mood
- Stress
- Workplace stress and burnout
- Relationship Difficulties
- Family conflict
- Bereavement, grief and loss
- Trauma and PTSD
- Low self-esteem and self worth
- Identity and belonging
- Life transitions and uncertainty
- Immigration and cultural challenges
- ADHD
- Autism
- LGBTQIA + experiences and identity

As someone who has experienced moving between countries and cultures, I have a particular interest in the psychological impact of migration and cultural adjustment. This can include questions of identity and belonging, feeling caught between different cultures, changes in relationships, loneliness, and the visible and invisible pressures of building a life away from your country of origin.
Background and perspective
Alongside my psychotherapy training and practice, I have a professional background in human resources. This has given me an understanding of workplace dynamics, interpersonal relationships, conflict, professional pressures and the impact that work can have on our wellbeing and sense of self.
I also hold a Master’s degree in the history of Contemporary Asian and African art. My academic background has contributed to my interest in culture, identity and the different ways in which people understand and express their experiences.
Having experienced therapy myself, I understand that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable and that finding the right therapist matters. I will meet you with care, respect and curiosity, without expecting you to arrive with everything already worked out.
