How Much Does Therapy Cost?
Therapy is an investment in yourself. We believe cost shouldn't be a barrier, which is why we offer multiple routes at different price points — from independent qualified therapists to supervised trainee sessions from £27.
Three Ways to Access Therapy
Every route gives you a qualified, accredited practitioner in a safe, professional setting.
Qualified Therapists
Browse our directory of fully qualified therapists. Each sets their own fees (typically £50–£90/session). Many offer concessions. Contact them directly through their profile.
Browse the directory→Low-Cost Trainee Therapy
Work with a supervised trainee therapist. 50-minute sessions from £27/week. Assessments from £19.50. Same professional setting, same commitment to your wellbeing.

The cost of therapy varies depending on the therapist's experience, qualifications, and specialism. In London, private therapy typically ranges from £50 to £120 per session. At HQ Therapy, our qualified practitioners generally charge between £50 and £90 for a 50-minute session.
Is Low-Cost Therapy Right for Me?
Our low-cost therapy programme offers sessions with supervised trainee therapists who are completing their post-graduate clinical training. They work under the guidance of experienced supervisors and follow the same ethical standards as qualified practitioners. It's a genuine therapeutic relationship — not a lesser service.
Can I Get Therapy on the NHS?
NHS talking therapies are available through your GP, but waiting times in London can be several months. Private therapy — whether with a qualified therapist or through our low-cost programme — lets you start within days rather than months. Many of our clients come to us because they need support now, not in six months' time.

How does the pricing work for low-cost therapy?
Low-cost session pricing is based on the number of sessions you commit to — not your financial circumstances. The more sessions you book, the lower the per-session rate: 8 sessions at £45 each, 12 at £37.50, 16 at £30, or 20+ at £27. Your assessor will talk you through the options and help you choose the right package. Sessions are paid in advance in small batches — we'll walk you through the payment schedule at your assessment.
How long are low-cost therapy sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes, the same length as most qualified therapists offer. They take place weekly at the same time and day, which helps build a reliable rhythm. Consistency is one of the things that makes therapy effective, so we prioritise regular scheduling.
How often are therapy sessions at HQ Therapy?
Most clients attend weekly 50-minute sessions. Session frequency can be adjusted based on your needs – some people prefer fortnightly or more intensive schedules. Discuss timing with your therapist.
