About HQ Therapy

Founded in 2016 by psychotherapist Melanie Cox, HQ Therapy has grown from a single practice in East London to a thriving community of over 220 therapists across London — making quality therapy accessible to everyone.

A Practice Built Around People

HQ Therapy was founded in 2016 by psychotherapist Melanie Cox with a simple belief: therapists and clients should be at the centre of everything. What started as a single practice in Dalston reached full capacity within six months — proof that there was real demand for a different kind of therapy space.

The practice quickly expanded to Haggerston and Highbury Fields, building a community of over 220 therapists offering an exceptionally varied programme of counselling and psychotherapy services. From cognitive behavioural therapy to art therapy, psychoanalysis to bodywork — our practitioners are hand-picked for their skill and commitment to client care.

Therapy should be a holistic, community-centred endeavour, and accessible to everyone.
What Makes Us Different

Built on Three Pillars

Diverse Expertise

Over 40 therapeutic modalities under one roof — from evidence-based approaches like CBT and EMDR to creative arts therapies and bodywork.

Accessible Therapy

Fully qualified therapy, low-cost trainee therapy from £27 per session, and wellbeing services — options for every budget and need.

Community-Centred

A warm, supportive space where therapists collaborate, trainees develop their practice, and clients feel genuinely cared for.

Making Therapy Accessible

During COVID-19, the gap between those who could afford therapy and those who couldn’t became impossible to ignore. We launched our Low-Cost Therapy service to address this — providing placements for trainee therapists under close supervision, making quality therapy available from just £27 per session.

Today, we support over 60 trainee therapists in partnership with leading training institutions including Metanoia Institute, IATE, University of Roehampton, The Minster Centre, and UEL. Every trainee is carefully matched with clients through our clinical assessment process, ensuring the right therapeutic fit from the start.

Our trainees bring fresh perspectives, current research knowledge, and genuine dedication to their clients. Combined with robust supervision and the support of our wider therapeutic community, low-cost therapy at HQ Therapy is anything but second-best.
