Laura Harwood
Integrative Therapist (UKCP)
Hello, my name is Laura Harwood (she/her), a UKCP-registered trainee psychotherapist and counsellor. I am currently in the fourth year of a five-year MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute.
About Laura
Working with a trainee psychotherapist brings several unique benefits: I am deeply invested in my ongoing professional development, bring contemporary perspectives to my work, and receive regular, rigorous clinical supervision.
This means my practice is supported by experienced senior clinicians, ensuring you receive a high standard of care at an accessible fee.
I work with HQ Therapy Rooms from Highbury Fields and currently offer sessions both in person and online. I know that reaching out to work with a therapist can feel like a significant step, so thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
People I support
I support individuals navigating a diverse range of difficulties, with specific experience in:
• Anxiety, stress, and panic
• Depression, low mood, and low self-esteem
• OCD and BDD
• Bereavement
• Family and relational problems
• Neurodiversity
• Developmental and past trauma
My Approach
As an integrative therapist, I work with a range of psychotherapeutic theories, incorporating humanistic, psychodynamic, and relational theories - which I tailor to your needs. Building a trusting relationship between client and therapist is central to my work, and my aim is to provide a confidential and non-judgmental space where you can explore what is on your mind.
I work collaboratively. Often, this means looking at what unfolds naturally within the therapy room to better understand the challenges you face in your everyday life. While I will always work at a pace that feels manageable for you, I may occasionally offer compassionate challenge.
Sharing your deepest thoughts in a secure environment can unlock fresh perspectives. This process helps deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships, empowering you to make meaningful changes and lead a more fulfilling life.
Clinical Experience
Alongside my academic training, my clinical experience includes working as a counsellor at the Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Service (MCPS) and Headstrong. I have also volunteered with Cruse Bereavement Care and OCD Action, and completed an art therapy placement at the Claremont Centre.
As a registered trainee member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), I strictly adhere to their Code of Ethics and professional guidelines.
Sessions and Fees
Sessions last for 50 minutes, and I charge £65 per session. I offer a limited number of concessionary rate spaces. There is no time limit to the number of sessions we can have; we will regularly review our work together to check how you feel about therapy and its progression.
If you’d like to begin working together, I offer a short free online appointment first to see what you’d like from therapy and whether we’d be a good fit. To arrange a session or ask for more information, please get in touch.
