Elia Ciucurita
Integrative Arts Psychotherapist (HCPC, BACP)
Hi, I’m Elia, an Integrative Psychotherapist and Art Psychotherapist offering individual therapy at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney.
About Elia
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Art Psychotherapist, registered with the HCPC and a member of the BACP. My background across different countries, cultures and professional settings has shaped my curiosity about people and the experiences that make us who we are. I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, with particular interests in relationships and family difficulties, cultural transitions, addiction, loss, identity and belonging.
I have worked across NHS, community and private settings, supporting people experiencing trauma, addiction, loss and complex mental health difficulties. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in hospitality, childcare and education, including supporting young people with autism and learning difficulties.
I offer therapy in English and Romanian, primarily face-to-face, with online sessions available when needed.
My approach
Art psychotherapy combines talking therapy with the use of art and creative materials. Sometimes it can be easier to express something through an image, colour or material than to find the right words. You don’t need to be artistic or have any previous experience with art. Art is simply another way of exploring your experiences and is never something you are required to use.
Some people prefer to talk, some use art, and others move between the two. We can find a way of working that feels right for you. Our sessions are a space to slow down and explore what brings you to therapy, including your relationships, feelings and patterns you may have found yourself repeating. We can also think about how past experiences may continue to shape the present.
We meet once a week for 50-minute sessions, and I work in an open-ended way, so there is no fixed number of sessions or end date agreed at the beginning. We can take things at your pace and make sense of things together.
