About Alex

About Me

My name is Alex Knowlden and I am a qualified Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, having completed my training at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE).

I am a full clinical member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and I am bound by, and adhere to, their code of ethics.

How I Work

My way of working begins with welcoming you fully, with compassion and without judgement. As a trauma-informed practitioner, I place great importance on creating a sense of safety, so that you can share your story and deepen your understanding of yourself and your experiences, while working at a pace that feels right for you.

I strive to maintain a culturally responsive and racially conscious stance in my practice. This is an ongoing commitment that involves my own continuous personal reflection and learning.

A central aspect of my role as a therapist is to support you in cultivating a deeper connection to yourself. This often involves gently untangling and getting to know the different parts of you. Through this process, a greater sense of wholeness can emerge, along with increased access to your own inner wisdom and guidance.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach is integrative, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities and tailor our work to your individual needs. The approaches I draw upon include:

  • Psychodynamic
  • Humanistic
  • Existential
  • Jungian

I work holistically, considering the interconnectedness of mind, body, and soul. These different perspectives help me to meet you where you are in each session and to collaborate with you in shaping a therapeutic journey that reflects your unique needs and circumstances.

Together, we may explore:

  • Your relationship with yourself
  • Your relationships with others
  • How your past experiences are impacting you now
  • What is happening for you in the present moment
  • The beliefs and expectations you hold about your future

Creative and Experiential Work

When appropriate, alongside talking therapy, I may invite you to work with creative and imaginative techniques. These can include:

  • Drawing
