Let us find the right therapist for you
A 45-minute video call assessment for £25. Tell us what you need — we'll recommend the right therapist and make the introduction.
What happens in an HQ Therapy Assessment
The matching assessment is a 45-minute video call with one of our team. It isn’t therapy — it’s a conversation to understand what you’re looking for and make sure we recommend someone genuinely suited to your situation.
We’ll cover what’s brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to get from it, and any preferences you have — approach, location, in-person or online, days and times. We’ll also ask about any previous experience of therapy, good or bad, because it helps us make a better recommendation.
At the end of the call, you’ll receive a clear recommendation: the right therapist and, if relevant, the right programme. We’ll explain our reasoning and make the introduction. If the first match doesn’t feel right once you’ve met, we’ll rematch you at no extra cost.

Questions about the HQ Therapy Assessment
Why use the HQ Therapy Assessment instead of the directory?
The directory is ideal if you're happy to research and choose yourself. The HQ Therapy Assessment is better if you're not sure what kind of therapy you need, if previous therapy hasn't worked, or if you'd rather have a recommendation from someone who knows the practice and the therapists well.
Can I be matched with either a qualified or trainee therapist?
Yes. The HQ Therapy Assessment covers both. Your assessor will recommend whoever is genuinely the right fit — and will explain why. If cost is a factor, they'll factor that in too.
What if the recommended therapist isn’t right for me?
Tell us. We’ll rematch you at no extra cost. The fit between you and your therapist matters — we’d rather get it right than have you continue with someone it doesn’t feel right with.
Is the assessment confidential?
Yes. Everything you share in the assessment is confidential, with the standard exceptions required by law — primarily if there’s a serious and immediate risk to your safety or someone else’s. Your assessor will explain this at the start of the call.
What happens after I’m matched with a qualified therapist?
Billing and session management move directly between you and your therapist. HQ’s role ends at the introduction — your therapist sets their own rates and takes their own bookings.
What if I’m also interested in the low-cost programme?
If the HQ Therapy Assessment points to a trainee therapist as the right fit, we'll route you into the low-cost programme. You'll then book your initial assessment separately. The assessment fee is not refunded or applied to the low-cost assessment.
Do I need to prepare anything?
No. It helps to have a rough sense of what’s brought you to therapy, but you don’t need notes or a clear story. Your assessor will guide the conversation.
