Sara Pantaleone:
Clinical Psychologist (HCPC)
My name is Sara Pantaleone and I am a Clinical Psychologist (HCPC) and a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (BPC/TSP) specialising in working with young people and families. I work with children, adolescents and adults who are struggling to manage their feelings and their relationships in various areas of life.
I have over 14 years of experience working in the NHS, charity and private sector with children, adolescents, and adults. I have extended experience working with clients who feel stuck in their lives, often struggling to transition to the next stage of development (e.g. moving schools, going to university, starting a career, or deciding whether to start a family).
My approach is psychodynamic, and this work aims to bring deep emotional changes, and an increased capacity to reflect on unhelpful patterns of thinking and relating. At times, a more integrative approach is needed, and, in those instances, I can draw on other approaches such as systemic practice, behavioural approaches, and attachment theories.
I also have extensive experience working with parents who are struggling to support their children or adolescents going through difficulties. These sessions give parents a containing space in which to explore their concerns, deepen their understanding of their children, and improve communication.
Therapy gives a person the opportunity to understand the dynamics that have been at work for a long time that are contributing to difficult feelings. With this increased awareness, the individual can then feel more in control over their life, opening up the possibility of approaching life in new ways. At times, during sessions, complex early experiences come to the surface, and these can be explored and processed within the safe space of therapy.
Therapy aims to help the individual to understand their worries, bringing more awareness of the conflicts that have been shaping current difficulties. With time the person will develop a different way of approaching difficult situations, having learnt new insights and tools.
Difficulties with managing feelings can take the shape of sleeping difficulties, irritability, poor concentration, somatic complaints, or struggles with social situations.
- I offer short-term (16-session model) and long-term therapy.
- I offer face-to-face sessions at HQ Therapy in Haggerston and I also work online (Zoom, Doxy, etc).
- I work in both English and Italian.
