Reflective Practice Workshops for Therapists: Two participatory workshops with psychotherapist Joe Moran
This Spring, psychotherapist, supervisor and facilitator Joe Moran will be offering two CPD, reflective practice workshops for therapists held over respective weekends in May and July at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, East London.
These welcoming and experiential workshops welcome experienced and graduate counsellors and psychotherapists, as well as therapists-in-training in the second year and beyond of their studies.
Participants are welcome to book one or both workshops.
Workshops for therapists 1: Integrating Core Skills: Active & Receptive
Sat 7 – Sun 8 May 2022, 10am-5pm
£125 for the weekend workshop
This two-day practice-based workshop for therapists will focus on the core therapeutic tools of receptive and active skills, as well as the integration of these different modes of working.
The workshop offers time and space for therapists to deepen and refresh their practice, revisit familiar skills in a new context, or simply for people to experience new perspectives, input and support.
The weekend will be sensitive to different modalities and will explore how particular skills may sit within or be in tension with the philosophy of different approaches.
The first day will focus upon receptivity as the core of therapeutic work, looking at the central importance of ‘staying in touch with the client’ and for the client to feel held and deeply heard.
The second day will explore a more dynamic approach, looking at how active skills may help stimulate and support a client to move forward in therapy. The workshop will culminate in an exploration of how these two modes may be integrated into practice.
The weekend will include experiential skills practice with participants working with each other as therapists/clients and, as such, group size will be kept purposefully small to support ease of working and a sense of safety.
Workshops for therapists 2: Navigating Worse Case Scenarios
Sat 9 July 2022, 10am-5pm
£75 for the one-day workshop
This one-day reflective practice workshop is an opportunity for therapists to identify, explore and unpack their ‘worst-case scenarios’ in their work with therapy clients in a supportive and unpressured environment.
Such challenges might include particular subject areas, client material, relational dynamics or situations that we fear could arise or feel unsure how to meet.
In a relaxed and collegial atmosphere, participants will each have space to bring that which confronts them, to reflect upon how this may constellate their own material, to receive support and input from others, and experiment with trying out different strategies for working with challenges.
The day will also include time for group supervision of current issues or difficulties that may benefit from supervisory support.
This therapy workshop aims to be welcoming, experiential and, hopefully, illuminating and constructive!
