Peter Robinson Integrative Counsellor London E8Peter Robinson:

Peter Robinson Integrative Counsellor (MBACP)

My name’s Peter Robinson and I’m an integrative counsellor working from HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.

Life can throw us challenges from all sorts of angles and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, stuck or alone. Sometimes, even if we’re not alone, it’s still a struggle to be truly heard and understood.

I know coming to therapy can feel like a big step, but when we work together my goal is to create a warm, open-minded and confidential space — and the right environment for positive change.

I believe a strong collaborative relationship is at the heart of good counselling work. Whether you’re dealing with one big thing or lots of small ones — or even lots of big things — we’ll work together to figure out where you are, how you got here, and how best to navigate a path through life’s complexities.

Along the way I hope you’ll encounter a broader understanding of your situation, engage in self-reflection, find yourself challenging unhelpful perceptions, and make sense of themes in your life.

As an integrative therapist I can draw on a number of therapeutic styles in order to meet you where you are, provide a flexible structure for our session, and accommodate your own preferences for our work together.

Some of the different types of therapy modalities I work with include person-centred, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic and existential therapy, along with motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

As well as giving me the ability to work with different models of counselling and psychotherapy, my training also means I can integrate coaching into work with clients. Not all clients want or need this, but it does mean that in addition to being able to work with you on finding clarity in your past and your present, I can also help you look at what comes next.

With a background in media and music, I’m attuned to many of the issues that can come up in those areas. I take a special interest in working with musicians and people in the creative industries.

I’m a registered member of with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am happy to work with clients both online and in-person.

My fees
For initial assessment and ongoing work my standard rate is £65 per 50-minute session. I’m currently seeing clients face to face and online (via Zoom).

Training and Qualifications
PGDip Integrative Counselling and Coaching, University of East London; Foundation Certificate in Counselling Skills (WPF); Diploma in Transformational Coaching (Animas); Certificate in Clinical Assessment Skills (WPF).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
