Penny Foley:
Integrative Therapist (UKCP, MBACP, HCPC)
My name is Penny Foley. I am an experienced Psychotherapist, registered with the UKCP, BACP and HCPC working at HQ Therapy Rooms in Dalston and Haggerston, Hackney, London E8 and also seeing clients in N19 and NW5.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Integrative Arts Therapy and have worked as a psychotherapist both within the NHS, and a number of mental health charities including MIND.
It is always so pleasing to see clients change and improve their well-being during therapy.
I work with adults to bring clarity and understanding to the causes as well as the symptoms of mental health difficulties, finding the most appropriate approach to support your individual needs.
The quality of the relationship between client and therapist is central to the success of the work we will do together.
I realise it can be hard to know where to start. We will begin by gaining a clear understanding of what has brought you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from it.
I offer a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space where you can give voice to your life experiences and unhelpful thoughts, so we can explore together how best to understand them and make changes.
People come to therapy for many reasons, including difficulties with relationships or family life, challenging events such as bereavement and loss, trauma, and emotional distress such as anger, anxiety and low mood.
As an Integrative therapist, I have a range of theories to draw on, tailoring my approach to work in a way that is comfortable for you.
We can work creatively using the arts and imagination if you find that helpful. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Psychotherapy can help us to regain control of our thoughts, feelings and behaviours and enable us to re-assess how we think about ourselves and the world.
Sometimes long-held beliefs about ourselves and where we fit in deserve to be challenged so we can stop what happened in the past from dictating our future.
Therapy can help you to live your best life – which is what we all deserve.
