Ortensia Terzi Therapist Hackney London E8Ortensia Terzi:

Advanced Transactional Analysis Trainee Psychotherapist (UKCP trainee member)

Hello, my name is Ortensia Terzi  (she/her), and I’m a Transactional Analysis trainee psychotherapist, currently completing my MSc at the Metanoia Institute.

Central to my therapeutic approach is the belief that the solutions to life’s challenges lie within us, not outside. By learning to love and accept ourselves as we are, we can develop greater empathy for others, improve our relationships, and create the life we desire.

I believe most people can benefit from therapy, as it provides a space where you can express yourself freely without the worry of upsetting friends or family.

In therapy, you can discuss your issues with someone who will not judge or dictate your actions, allowing you to explore your options and make informed choices.

My approach:
As a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy, I adhere to the UKCP Ethical Framework. This framework guides my practice and ensures we work together on a solid ethical foundation.

My aim is to focus on the present while helping my clients reflect on how the past may have shaped their perspectives. As a relational Transactional Analysis trainee psychotherapist, I view the process of relating to oneself and others as a key channel of self-expression and a catalyst for change. A relationship with the client, built on trust, collaboration, and genuine listening, is central to my therapeutic approach.

I provide a safe and confidential space where you can comfortably explore your story without judgement. Together, we can explore options that will help you move forward and achieve a greater sense of contentment and well-being, both physically and mentally.

Therapy is not always an easy process; it requires courage and a true commitment to change. However, the rewards can be life-changing and long-lasting.

Experience:
I work with clients facing a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, loneliness, low self-esteem, trauma, bereavement, grief, and loss.

Fees and Availability:
Should you choose to continue, we will meet weekly for 50-minute sessions at a mutually agreed time. My fees range from £50 to £60, depending on your income.

I offer face-to-face sessions at HQ Therapy Haggerston on Monday evenings and online sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

I work on both a short-term and long-term basis, so your space will be available for as long as you feel you need it.

I offer a free initial assessment session. This allows us to meet and chat about what you might gain from therapy and gives you a chance to see whether you feel comfortable with me.

About Me:
I am a dual Italian-British national, grew up in Italy and I moved to the UK in 2014. Speaking more than one language has always helped me to talk to different people and develop more thinking and diversity skills.

As I have always studied and worked in a diverse and inclusive environment, this has enabled me to practice respect for qualities and experiences that are different from my own.

Before training as a counsellor, I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Law and an MA in Human Resource Management. I have a background working in the recruitment and retail sector.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
