Olivia Lang Trauma-Informed Integrative Therapist Hackney London E8Olivia Lang:

Trauma-Informed Integrative Therapist (BACP)

My name is Olivia Lang and I’m a Trauma-Informed Integrative Psychotherapist working at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, as well as online.

Therapy can be a daunting step – but it can also provide a unique opportunity to pause and reflect, to understand yourself better, and to work through life’s challenges.

My approach is compassionate and tailored to your individual needs, creating a space where you can share whatever it is you wish to explore, and together we can make sense of your experience.

How I work:
As an integrative therapist, I blend a number of different modalities, including Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Somatic/Body Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I work on the basis that past experiences contribute to our learned relational responses, giving us a ‘template’ for how we connect to ourselves, others, and the world.

Therapy offers an opportunity to identify and investigate these responses, gaining awareness and self-understanding which then allows us to make informed, conscious decisions about our lives.

I work with clients with a wide range of issues, including abuse, ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, childhood emotional neglect, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, sexual abuse, stress and burnout, and workplace issues.

My speciality is developmental or complex trauma and I draw on a knowledge of attachment theory and the nervous system to do this work.

Prior to working as a therapist, I worked in journalism and travelled widely as part of my job. I have a deep and genuine curiosity in the experiences of people from all backgrounds and cultures, and I value difference and diversity.

I offer a free introductory call to answer any questions you have and to see if we’re the right fit. Please contact me via the email below.

My availability:
I offer in-person sessions in North and East London, as well as online (Zoom) sessions. My working times vary so please reach out to me for my current availability.

I charge £85 for a 50-minute session. I also offer a few concessionary slots for those who are unemployed or on a low income  – please contact me for more information.

Training and qualifications:
I am a registered member of the British Association of Psychotherapists and Counselling (BACP). I hold a PG Dip Advanced in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling from CPPD Counselling School and a BA (Hons) in Politics from the University of Nottingham.

I am bound by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am committed to personal and professional development and am an advocate of lifelong learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
