Maria Tsiplitari Tsamadia Integrative Movement Psychotherapist London E8Maria Tsiplitari Tsamadia:

Integrative Movement Psychotherapist (ADMP UK, UKCP)

Hello and thank you for visiting my page.

My name is Maria Tsiplitari Tsamadia and I am an integrative, embodied psychotherapist offering therapy for adults (18+) at HQ Therapy Rooms in Dalston, London E8.

I have more than 8 years of experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds in the public and private mental health sector, including the NHS, NGOs, voluntary sector, and charities.

Originally from Greece, I have been living and working in the UK since 2017.

My focus is on creating a safe, warm, empathetic and collaborative therapy space to support you in understanding how you can lead a more meaningful life. It is my priority that you feel heard, understood and make meaning of your experiences.

Together we can explore your worries around relationship difficulties, family, career and work-related issues, as well as issues with anxiety, depression, mood and low self-esteem.

Throughout my career I have also supported clients to manage difficulties related to significant life changes, aging, loss/ grief, health issues, and identity.

My clinical work and personal experience with psychotherapy have made me a firm believer of how therapy can help us manage present issues, by enhancing our self-awareness, our resources, resilience and creativity, as well as by gently connecting our past, present, and future.

The identities we embody, such as our age, culture, gender, sex, sexuality, ethnicity, faith, etc, significantly shape our experiences.

Hence, I find it helpful to consider them in the context of therapy.

I am very interested in how our minds influence our bodies and vice versa. Therefore, I often draw upon non-verbal and creative therapeutic interventions, such as breathing and movement to further support you in understanding yourself and achieve the changes you want, aiming to offer a profound and holistic approach to therapy.

My initial training as a psychologist (AUTH GR), my subsequent psychotherapy training (Roehampton University, UK) and my own engagement with therapy as a client has allowed me to gain a deep understanding of the multifaceted and fascinating human experiences.

My current training with the Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy College of the UKCP and training to become a clinical Supervisor keep shaping my integrative approach to therapy. Incorporating humanistic, psychodynamic, existential, embodied and cognitive/behavioral theory into my practice supports a flexible and person-centered therapeutic approach tailored to meet your needs.

I am a registered member of the ADMP UK and a trainee member of the UKCP.

You are welcome to send me an e-mail (below) so that we arrange a first meeting, where we can discuss what brings you to therapy and how we can work together. I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy.

My current fee is 60 pounds per 50 min.

I am also currently offering low-cost supervision to psychotherapists, creative arts therapists, and trainee therapists as part of my Supervision Diploma Training at the London Centre for Psychodrama.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.

It feels good to be listened to and to know that someone cares about you and wants to help. It is important that you find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and can build a trusting relationship to help you make positive changes in your life.
