Kiara Naidoo:
Person-Centred Trainee-Psychotherapist (UKCP student member)
Hi, I am Kiara Naidoo and I am a trainee psychotherapist working in the Person-Centred Approach.
The search for therapy can often be challenging with pressure to find an option that works practically and the feelings or difficulties that may have sparked the urge to seek it in the first place, and possible apprehension around what the therapeutic process may be like.
In this approach, you lead the process, we will go at your pace and anything you want to bring is welcome.
I believe in the power of acceptance, non-judgement and empathy and the importance of it all being there right at the start.
The Person-centred approach champions the idea that the client is an expert in themselves and their own lives and that the therapeutic relationship will best serve them if it honours this.
In this process, I will not be offering instructions or direction, rather trusting that as time goes on and we explore together the issues you want to share that clarity and your understanding will be more available where perhaps they have felt unattained previously.
I simply want to be a supportive, truthful and helpful companion to face problems together. It is important that your thoughts and concerns are able to be brought to therapy and I welcome honesty and openness.
My professional background includes working in the National Probation Service, working with clients who were on Probation and also in Modern Slavery Victim Care, supporting people who have experienced modern slavery and human trafficking.
In these roles, I practised working in a trauma-informed way and I met people from different backgrounds and experiences, with different needs, and I believe in welcoming every person and valuing their individual identities.
Identity is unique to every person, I believe in welcoming diversity and valuing everyone’s personal experience, with respect and interest.
I am currently training at Metanoia Institute on the programme, MSc Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Applications. I work online at HQ Therapy and offer sessions 7pm onwards on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
