Jo Wimbush:
Trainee Integrative Psychotherapist (UKCP trainee member)
I am a trainee integrative art psychotherapist with a particular interest in developmental trauma and its profound influence on shaping present-day behaviours. I use creative mediums such as painting, drawing, sand tray work, clay, and puppets to help clients explore, understand, and process their experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
My integrative approach draws from a rich tapestry of theoretical and philosophical backgrounds, including Person-Centred Therapy, Attachment Theory, Winnicott, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Existentialism, and Transpersonal perspectives.
As a trained yoga teacher, I bring a strong focus on somatics—the body’s internal sensations, perceptions, and responses to experiences. I view the mind-body connection as central to healing and personal growth.
I believe that every individual holds an innate wisdom for their own healing and growth, and my role is to support them in uncovering and trusting that inner knowledge.
I strive to be a good listener, empathetic and respectful, creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued.
Central to this is my belief that a therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of successful therapy. My approach is rooted in honouring you as a unique individual with your own needs, strengths, and experiences. Never reducing you to a set of symptoms or diagnoses, I seek to understand your story by asking, “What happened to you?” and “What did you have to do to survive?”
Before training as a psychotherapist, I spent over 20 years in the media, working in advertising, film, and music. This background gives me an understanding of the challenges and pressures of competitive, high-performance environments.
Born and raised in London, I am of dual heritage—Indian and Dutch—which informs my appreciation for diverse cultural narratives and experiences.
