Henry Riggs:
Trainee Humanistic & Integrative Counsellor (BACP Student Member)
Hi. My name is Henry Riggs and I am a trainee therapist working 1:1 with individuals in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.
I am currently completing a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling at CPPD Counselling School in Hornsey, training in the modalities of Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Psychodynamic Therapy.
How I work:
Primarily, I work with a person-centred approach. I believe that we as individuals are the experts on our own lives, but sometimes we can become stuck, lost or lose perspective along the way.
I would hope to establish a collaborative relationship in which I can begin to understand how things are for you. By providing a safe and non-judgemental space, my hope is that you will feel able to talk in confidence about thoughts, feelings or situations that may be causing you anxiety or distress.
It is through exploring these issues in more depth that you will gain greater self-awareness and will be able to equip yourself with strategies to use if similar situations arise in the future.
As you come to understand yourself, your relationships and your situation better, I believe that you will also find more self-acceptance and clarity.
As an integrative therapist, I appreciate that everyone is unique. I will therefore adapt my approach to best fit your needs as a client. As such, I may also call upon principles of Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Psychodynamic therapy if I feel that these would be beneficial for a particular issue that you are experiencing.
I consider myself to be a warm, genuine and open-minded therapist who can provide empathy, genuine curiosity and unconditional acceptance of who you are as an individual.
I have been trained to work with issues including depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, low self-esteem, loneliness, trauma, gender identity, sexuality and addiction.
I am an insured student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I am available for in-person sessions between 4-7 pm on Saturdays at HQ Therapy Rooms’ Haggerston location.
