What is Emotional Freedom Technique?: Used as an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress, emotional freedom technique (EFT) – which people often refer to as EFT tapping – is rooted in an understanding of the Chinese concept of chi – or life force – and its pathways through the body.
Utilising the acupressure (or meridian) points, EFT uses a combination of physical intervention (tapping the pressure points) and linguistic reinforcement (phrase repetition) or silent focus to help relieve a specific feeling.
What happens during EFT Tapping Therapy?: Usually, you will focus on a problematic, distressing or persistent emotion and, finding a specific pressure EFT tapping point, tap with your fingertips while imagining the feeling moving through you, lessening and, ultimately dissipating entirely. You can also use language to express the strength, movement or change of the feeling.
An EFT practitioner will perform the tapping on you, or guide you through doing it yourself. You can learn the technique to practise it in any circumstances. Medical studies show that EFT tapping can also help improve psychological disorders.
