Emma Dodd:
Trainee Gestalt Psychotherapist (UKCP student member)
Hi, my name is Emma Dodd. I am a trainee psychotherapist working face-to-face and online at HQ Therapy Rooms, offering weekly low-cost therapy in Dalston and Haggerston, to short-term and/or long-term clients.
I am shortly to commence my third year on the MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy course at the Metanoia Institute, a reputable training organisation. The training is rigorous but highly rewarding.
I find human beings endlessly fascinating and I am enjoying deepening my knowledge of the human psyche through my study. I am passionate about helping others find ways to move through difficult life experiences and challenges.
I practice a humanistic psychotherapeutic approach, meaning that my focus is on your experience, and where I will help you to make meaning of the way that you feel. My approach is grounded in empathy, kindness and active listening, and I strive to create a safe and trusting environment where you can feel safe to explore any issues without judgement.
I believe that every individual is unique and that we all have access to our own innate wisdom. My goal is to support you to reconnect with yourself so that you can uncover your true authentic self and live a life of integrity.
Increasing self-awareness of one’s own patterns can be extremely powerful in terms of helping you to make conscious choices in your life from a place of empowerment.
I believe therapy to be a collaborative process where I can support you in resolving issues in your life so that you can thrive and live to your full potential. I will be led by you and will adapt my approach to suit your needs and goals.
Throughout my time as a trainee therapist, I have seen clients of different genders, races and cultures and have worked with a number of issues such as anxiety and depression, PTSD, sexual trauma, suicidal ideation, immigrant issues and relationship/marital challenges.
Commencing therapy can be daunting and I aim to put my clients at ease through a calm and empathetic approach.
I am a student member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), adhering to their ethical guidelines.
I look forward to meeting with you.
