Dobrochna Zajas Cognitive Behavioural EMDR TherapistDobrochna Zajas

Cognitive Behavioural & EMDR Therapist (BABCP)

My name is Dobrochna Zajas and I am a qualified Cognitive and Behavioural Therapist, EMDR Therapist and Registered Drug and Alcohol Practitioner based at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney E8 4DE.

My passion is to help people discover their own potential and gain the ability to heal themselves, recognise their own strengths, find the ability to cope from within and regain their strength after difficult and/or traumatic situations.

Everyone has felt “stuck” at some point or other in their lives. Certain situations, whether in the past, present or future, can become overwhelming. As a result, sometimes just trying to “keep up” with day-to-day life can start to take up a lot of energy, which can end up being draining and difficult. Amid all this, not only can we feel lost, alone and confused, but we can also lose our sense of self and happiness.

Although speaking about personal issues and seeking help can seem like a daunting task, it is a very important step on the journey of healing. Every journey requires that first step.

Becoming part of yours is not only a privilege for me but also an opportunity to find the best way to approach your difficulties.

Creating a safe and compassionate space together to explore all of your concerns, where at your own pace and in your own way, you can feel not only listened to but also heard and understood.

I have always felt drawn to help those who are vulnerable or in need. I have worked mainly in the homeless charity sector as well as with the NHS mental health service. I have also worked on a voluntary basis with refugees and those in crisis.

Having gone through my own experience of losing close friends and family due to health issues or addictions I have learned that every struggle can help us grow and develop. These experiences have shaped my compassionate and non-judgmental approach to use each person’s experiences in a self-growth process to overcome their difficulties and find their own strengths and self-sufficiency.

I believe that every human being deserves and wants to feel love, acceptance, compassion, and kindness – not only from others but from within themselves as well.

I work predominantly with addictions (substance and behavioural like gambling or sex addiction) and with people who have experienced traumatic situations in their life. I can also help you overcome other difficulties such as loss and bereavement, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and many others.

Whatever difficulty you are facing I will be here to support you to feel more in control and grounded and hopefully, you will be able to reclaim your life and feel empowered.

I am currently seeing clients face to face, online (Zoom, Skype, etc) and by phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.

Can I Contact You For Advice About Getting Therapy?

It feels good to be listened to and to know that someone cares about you and wants to help. It is important that you find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and can build a trusting relationship to help you make positive changes in your life.
