Carina Faria:
Trainee Integrative Therapist (BACP Student Member)
My name is Carina Faria, and I am a trainee therapist working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ therapy rooms at Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.
I am currently studying for my BSc Counselling degree at the University of East London. This is an integrative course focusing on person-centred, CBT, psychodynamic and existential therapy. I am a student member of the BACP, therefore, abide by their ethical framework.
I understand that life can be difficult, challenging and sometimes overwhelming, which could make us feel separated from everyone else when difficulties arise.
Counselling can help strengthen your resilience, support you through challenging times and give you tools to see you through the hard times.
I can understand that starting therapy can seem daunting as it is unfamiliar territory, however, it is important to remember that you have already shown strength in deciding to be here and beginning therapy.
I believe that you are the best expert of yourselves and in working together collaboratively you can better understand yourself, your processes and triggers can better prepare you for dealing with hardships.
Together we can develop new perspectives into what brought you to therapy and build tools to help you in the present and future.
My approach:
I am training to be an integrative therapist drawing on different therapy modalities and applying different techniques from various approaches to fit the needs of individual clients. I have experience in person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT approaches but currently, I am also exploring existential as a modality.
In addition to my degree, I have done CPD training in DVA, Basic first aid, Trauma, working with diversity and disabilities, suicide prevention, sand tray and introduction to art therapy.
How I work:
I provide a safe and non-judgmental environment and bring my empathy and compassion to your presenting issues. I believe the foundation in getting to know you is the key to a successful therapeutic relationship which needs to first be established for trust to blossom.
Trust is very important for the client to be open to exploring difficult topics. I also believe everyone is unique, so a tailored approach is fundamental for progress which is achieved in collaboration with therapist and client.
I have experience working with children, young people, and adults.
Before starting working with a client, I offer an introduction phone call of 15 minutes as I believe the therapeutic relationship begins from when I am first assigned to a client, before meeting them face-to-face.
