Arissa Hossain:
Trainee Integrative Psychotherapist (UKCP student member)
Hi, my name is Arissa Hossain and I am a trainee integrative psychotherapist, working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.
Making the decision to seek support and begin therapy can be a challenging one. If it is your first time seeking therapy, it may feel like unchartered territory and you may not know what to expect.
On the other hand, you may have tried therapy before and benefited from it in a meaningful way.
Wherever you are on your journey, I will meet with you in a safe, warm, non-judgemental, and confidential space, to explore your experiences, issues, thoughts, and sense of self.
Living in a fast-paced world, with ever-changing economic, social, and technological issues, is bound to have an impact on our mental health and well-being. Experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, physical and mental illnesses, past or present trauma, grief, relationship issues, and a multitude of emotions can sometimes get the better of us.
I offer an integrative psychotherapeutic approach, merging different modalities such as psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, and transpersonal approaches, to tailor to your needs as a unique individual with your own set of experiences and way of being.
I view therapy as an alliance and partnership, where we work together to bring insight, explore struggles or unhelpful coping mechanisms, and help build on your self-development, resilience, and ability to deal with life’s complicated hurdles.
Therapy may seem like a scary and vulnerable endeavour, however, it can also lead us to a sense of self-empowerment, authenticity, healing, and meaningfulness. It is my goal to help you feel seen, understood, and supported in this challenging, but highly rewarding process – a client-centered approach is at the heart of my practice.
I work with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, stress, suicide, bereavement, life transitions, and low self-esteem. I also work with issues relating to migration and culture.
My qualifications:
I am currently working towards an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regent’s University London. I am also a student member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), I adhere to the UKCP Ethical Framework and Professional Practice.
In addition, I currently work as a Support Worker at Mind in Enfield and Barnet, where I work with a range of clients and run a Mindfulness Meditation group.
Prior to Psychotherapy, I obtained a degree in Political Science and Psychology at McMaster University in Canada, as well as an MSc in Violence, Conflict, and Development at SOAS University of London.
I am currently available to work with clients face-to-face and I look forward to hearing from you.
