A’rann O’Carroll:
Trainee Counsellor (BACP student member)
Hello, my name is A’rann O’Carroll and I am a trainee counsellor working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston and Dalston, Hackney, London E8.
I am a trainee counsellor and in my final year of a diploma in Gestalt counselling at the Gestalt Centre London.
I aim to create a trusting and confidential environment where you can explore your difficulties in a safe therapeutic space. My Gestalt training has enabled me to work with dialogue, exploring bodily feelings and sensations, and working creatively.
My focus is on acknowledging your situation as unique and my aim is for you to be heard, understood and feel safe.
I trust that each person holds the answers within themselves. I work collaboratively with you to bring about a better understanding of your emotional processes and to develop a deeper awareness of yourself.
I have come to realise that it is only in the present we can start a new journey. I work towards finding you ways to support yourself within your personal relationships, at home and in your work environment.
The approach I use is to look at our own ability to respond and find and develop support within ourselves. This involves working towards liberating ourselves from patterns that inhibit us, so we can have more freedom and spontaneity in our lives.
With a background as a community advice worker, I have experience working with people who have been socially excluded and have experienced discrimination.
I work within a framework of respect for people determining their own outcomes for themselves. I have recovered from drug addiction and have been mentoring men through the 12-step programme of Alcoholics Anonymous (alcohol and drug addiction) for the last eight years.
I am a member of the BACP and fully insured with Oxygen Professional Liability Insurance Hiscox Ltd.
