Ansell Cizic:
Trainee Humanistic Counsellor (BACP student member)
My name is Ansell Cizic, and I am a trainee humanistic counsellor and BACP member working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.
Within the humanistic framework, my practice is informed by, person-centred, gestalt, and transactional analysis (TA) modalities.
I understand that each client that I work with is unique and therefore I recognise that a pluralist approach to the therapeutic process can be of great value.
As a counsellor, I believe my primary function within the therapeutic process is to offer a safe space in which an authentic, mutually respectful relationship can be developed.
The therapeutic relationship is the fundamental basis on which the client-therapist work is undertaken.
In order to feel free and safe to be vulnerable our clients need to be assured of the fact that exchanges within the therapeutic alliance are private and therefore anonymity is important and must be assured.
From a humanistic perspective and more specifically a person-centred frame of reference the work we do will always be steered by you.
My role is very much about supporting and facilitating your process of realising and reaching a better understanding of the underlying nature of the difficulties/distress that you may be encountering in your everyday life.
Therapy can provide the opportunity for you to reflect on and examine the defensive, out-of-awareness strategies and mechanisms you employ to keep you safe, but at the same time restrict your growth.
I am currently seeing clients face-to-face.
At present, I am training to become a humanistic counsellor/therapist at the Metanoia Institute.
