Angel Ogden Integrative Humanistic Counsellor London E8Angel Ogden:

Trainee Integrative Humanistic Counsellor (BACP student member)

Hello! My name is Angel Ogden; I am training as a humanistic counsellor, offering low-cost Therapy at HQ Therapy London Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London.

I am developing my skills by undertaking a BSC in Humanistic Therapy, and a three-year degree at Metanoia institute. My approach to Therapy is informed by three types of modalities, Person-centred, Transactional analysis (TA), and Gestalt.

As a student member of the BACP and adhering to their ethical framework, I aim to become an accredited counsellor for the British association of counselling and psychotherapy (BACP).

I am currently fully insured and prepared for my first clients.

About Me:
I currently work in a helping role with clients from all walks of life. I have experience supporting complex needs, particularly with anxiety, PTSD, low self-esteem, domestic violence, and trauma.

The help I offer varies and has inspired me to dedicate time to clients to hear and understand their needs truly.

My choice to study Humanistic Therapy is where I have discovered the connections and vital commonalities that can be experienced in the therapeutic space. In addition, the Humanistic approach sheds light on the meaning of human care, committing time and empathy better to understand people’s emotional and psychological well-being.

I also have worked in the LGBTQ+ community, working within various charities to address different needs faced by the community and the individual. In addition, I have attended training in the complexities of domestic violence, sexual violence/crime and abuse and further training to support young adults (18+).

For six years, I have undertaken a volunteer supervisor role for the charity; Foodbank; I offer various services and am aware of homelessness and financial concerns facing some today. Much of my experience supports my inspiration to provide dedicated Therapy to all.

My Qualifications:
Current – BSc Humanistic counselling degree

Level 2 counselling skills BCAP.

Blue light champion mental health spot.

Trauma Impact prevention technique training.

Quote:
“We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity.”Max de Pree.

How I work:
My door is open to all, no matter your personal or collective identity; I am committed to the values of multiculturalism and intersectionality. Our space will open you to share and explore the areas in your life that you may struggle with or find challenging to manage.

I will walk with you through those difficulties in an empathetic and non-judgemental way where we can discover and explore your experiences, feelings, and emotions together.

We will identify patterns, habits and behaviours and develop strategies and techniques to help you in your day-to-day life.

My humanistic theory allows me to work with three modalities, giving me access to different approaches which can be best suited and adaptive to you. All the work we do will be confidential and client-led, which means led by you, ensuring the pace is right and our therapeutic relationship is growing.

So let us start this journey together; the space is open for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.

It feels good to be listened to and to know that someone cares about you and wants to help.
