Amy Lou Womack:
Trainee Integrative Art Psychotherapist (BAAT student member)
My name is Amy Lou Womack, I am a trainee Integrative Art Psychotherapist, I offer online low-cost therapy here at HQ therapy.
I am in the final year of my Masters in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE).
I also have an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic and Educational Application of the Arts from IATE and a Higher Education Certificate in Counselling and Counselling Skills from Birkbeck University.
The act of seeking out and attending therapy is a huge step in what can be a journey to self-discovery and therapeutic change.
It is an act of self-care and self-awareness, and coming to a realisation that something needs to change. It is a daunting prospect.
I am here to be on that journey with you, for however long you decide to be on it and in whichever direction you need it to take. I want to provide you with the safety and the space you need to explore what it is that has brought you here.
My studies and practice in Integrative therapy means that I am able to adapt my therapeutic approach to your needs. Allowing me to use a wide range of theories and ways of working to support our sessions together, this allows for a more tailored approach.
The use of the arts in therapy is powerful, it is a powerful way of expressing yourself, and it can help to explore topics and emotions on a deeper level. It is a form of communication that is beyond the verbal, and it can allow the creator to hold difficult emotions or topics away from themselves, and into the object of the artwork, creating space for awareness to form.
Together we can explore the artwork, looking at the meanings and intentions behind it, to inform us. Often producing a deeper understanding, and opening up avenues of self-awareness and therapeutic change.
