Mia Zur-Szpiro Psychosexual, Relationship & Couples Therapist London N5Mia Zur-Szpiro:

Psychosexual, Relationship & Couples Therapist (CORST)

I’m Mia Zur-Szpiro, a qualified Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist, working with individuals and couples. I trained at the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology (CICS), which emphasizes a Pluralistic, inclusive and empathic approach to therapy.

How I Work:
As a pluralistic therapist, I am trained in a range of therapeutic modalities, including Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Gestalt, Human Givens, CBT and Mindfulness Therapies. I take a personalized approach to all clients, tailoring each session to meet your unique needs.

Sometimes that may involve psychoeducation, diving into past experiences or current dynamics and how they connect to current patterns, non-touch somatic exercises, thought and journaling exercises, two-chair work and more.

I value working in collaboration with clients, to understand what your goals and aims from therapy are, drawing on your self-insight, and always checking in to see how the work is landing with you. It is my priority to support you in feeling safe in therapy and to have the autonomy to share your needs or how the work is resonating with you; your comfort and perspectives are of utmost importance.

Presentations I Work With:
I support individuals and couples with a range of themes around sex, sexuality and relationships. These include sexual function issues, sexual pain, pleasure, gender diversity, relationship diversity, kink, sexual health, STI stigma, how Neurodiversity and Disability intersect with sex and relationships, LGBTQA+ themes, coming out and transitioning.

I also address loss of desire, shame, trauma, fertility issues, menopause, compulsive behavior, communication problems, intimacy, mismatched desire, infidelity, building trust and communication, and navigating differing sexual preferences.

Additionally, I can assist with opening up relationships, breaking up and divorce, navigating life changes and their impact on sex and relationships, neurodiversity within the partnership and whatever you as a couple wish to work on in therapy.

Therapeutic Ethos:
These topics of sex, bodies and relationships can often be challenging and weighted to talk about, where so many parts of ourselves, our identity, cultures, society and history can come together.

I am committed to always being non-judgemental with what you bring to our sessions and I hope to create a space and therapeutic relationship where you, either individually or alongside a partner, can share these intimate parts of you.

To support you in working towards as much self-compassion, self-knowing, self-actualisation and fulfilment for you in your individual or partnered lives.

How I work with clients:
I see clients weekly or fortnightly, offering flexibility for rescheduling with advance notice. Before choosing to work together, I offer a free 20-minute online call to answer any questions and understand your therapy needs. To schedule, please email me at [email protected]

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
