Svetlana Sabeva:
Trainee Humanistic Integrative Counsellor (BACP student member)
My name is Svetlana Sabeva. I am a trainee counsellor providing person-centred integrative counselling for individuals. My therapeutic foundation draws from psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, and systemic approaches, complemented by techniques from Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
This integrative approach enables me to tailor my work to meet each client’s unique needs and circumstances, fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients feel empowered to explore and work through their challenges and growth.
I am known for my calm and gentle approach, adaptability, and ability to create strong therapeutic rapport with diverse individuals. A compassionate and attentive listener, I work collaboratively with clients to navigate complex emotions and situations. My experience includes working with people from varied cultural, social, and personal backgrounds, which has enhanced my sensitivity and competence in addressing diverse needs.
I have worked extensively with individuals facing self-harming behaviour, suicidal ideations, acute psychosis, overdose, attachment issues, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, mood disorders, eating disorders, individuals diagnosed with acute psychosis, emotionally unstable personality disorder, borderline personality disorder and bipolar. I also have experience supporting women affected by domestic violence, helping them rebuild their sense of safety and autonomy.
In addition to individual counselling, I am passionate about couples and family therapy. I have worked with complex relational dynamics, focusing on strengthening connections, resolving conflicts, and fostering healthier communication patterns. My systemic perspective enables me to explore how relationships and broader contexts influence individual well-being.
I am currently completing the final stage of my Humanistic Integrative Counselling training at CPPD Counselling School. My academic background further enhances my clinical work:
- Postgraduate Certificate in Child-Focused Systemic Practice from the University of Bedfordshire in collaboration with the Institute of Family Therapy (IFT).
- MSc in Psychodynamics of Human Development from Birkbeck, University of London, in collaboration with the British Psychotherapy Foundation.
These qualifications have provided me with a robust foundation to integrate various therapeutic modalities, allowing me to adapt my approach to meet the diverse needs of my clients. My training and experience have also enhanced my ability to work with unconscious processes, attachment patterns, and systemic influences, helping clients gain deeper insights and create meaningful change.
As a counsellor, I am committed to personal and professional growth. My ongoing personal analysis and reflective practice ensure that I remain self-aware and attuned to my clients’ experiences.
I believe in the transformative power of therapy and am dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey toward healing and self-discovery.
