Alex Whiteman:
Trainee Existential Psychotherapist & Coach (UKCP Student Member)
About me:
Hi, I’m Alex Whiteman, a trainee existential psychotherapist and certified coach. I offer a space for you to reflect on your experiences, confront life’s challenges, and make sense of your path forward.
I am a dedicated and compassionate individual with a passion for social impact. My drive to find meaningful work has led to years of diverse experience as a social responsibility programme manager, management consultant, and secondary school science teacher. Now, I am training as a psychotherapist to pursue a career that aligns with my purpose.
As a trainee existential psychotherapist, I bring curiosity, openness, and a commitment to meeting you where you are. Together, we’ll explore how your values, choices, and relationships shape your sense of self and your life’s direction.
How I work:
I approach therapy from a relational perspective, emphasizing the impact of our connections—with ourselves, others, and the world—on navigating life’s challenges and our overall well-being. Our work together will be integrative and holistic, considering your history, current circumstances, and future aspirations.
I am particularly interested in the existential themes we all encounter: freedom, responsibility, meaning, purpose, and the awareness of our finite existence. These are universal aspects of being human, yet we each experience them uniquely. My role is to help you understand how you relate to these themes and empower you to respond with authenticity and courage.
A therapeutic approach based on empathy, trust, and collaboration will be key to our relationship. We will walk side-by-side, and I will offer you a non-judgmental space when you are experiencing challenges and distress.
Who I work with:
I work with clients navigating a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, loss, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions.
You may be experiencing sadness, uncertainty, or emotional struggles. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or at odds with yourself. Perhaps you’re wrestling with questions about purpose, identity, or relationships. I see these experiences as opportunities to deepen your connection with yourself and live more intentionally.
How can therapy help?
Therapy can be both challenging and rewarding. It’s an invitation to engage deeply with your life and uncover the possibilities that lie within you. Together, we can navigate life’s complexities, allowing you to live in alignment with what truly matters to you.
I look forward to accompanying you to a more meaningful and authentic existence.
