Alexandra Cooper:
Integrative Psychotherapist (BACP)
Hello and welcome! My name is Alexandra Cooper. I am a BACP-registered psychotherapist, offering both long- and short-term therapy in person and online.
Whether you’re seeking support for a specific issue or simply wish to better understand yourself and your relationships, therapy can provide the tools and space to make sense of your emotions, thoughts, and experiences.
Together, we can identify patterns of thinking, and you can learn to approach challenging situations with a deeper awareness of your responses in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
My Approach:
My training is rooted in integrative therapy principles, meaning I draw from various theoretical frameworks and adapt them to suit each individual.
I place strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, as I believe trust and mutual understanding are essential for effective work.
Since we are inherently relational beings, I value exploring how you connect with the people in your life as part of our process.
My work is also informed by psychodynamic theory, which emphasizes the influence of the unconscious on our thoughts and behaviours. Gaining insight into these unconscious patterns and understanding the impact of early experiences can lead to a fuller self-awareness.
I work from an intersectional perspective, always considering your social and cultural context and recognizing that each person’s experience is unique.
Additionally, I believe in the mind-body connection. Anxiety, stress, and trauma often reside within the body, affecting both physical and mental well-being. Identifying where stress or anxiety manifests in the body can be a valuable step in managing it.
