Mark Jardine:
Trainee Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (BPF trainee member)
My name is Mark Jardine, and I am a trainee psychodynamic psychotherapist working face-to-face at HQ Therapy Rooms, offering weekly low-cost therapy in Haggerston, to short-term and/or long-term clients.
Our individual lives are made up of unique experiences and challenges; everybody has their own story to tell. My approach recognises and values your individuality.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a non-prescriptive talking therapy which aims to help individuals explore more unconscious aspects of their behaviour, thoughts and feelings. It addresses underlying issues and causes, often from your past, which may be concerning you, or affecting your relationships with others.
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, or we feel stuck and don’t know how to move forward, and old ways of dealing with life’s challenges are no longer working. Psychotherapy can help.
In your sessions, you will be encouraged to talk freely and to look deeper into your problems and worries. The aim is to help you make deep-seated changes in personality and emotional development, alongside relieving troubling symptoms.
I provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can speak openly and honestly about your feelings and the difficulties you are facing in your life and relationships. This can help you better understand what triggers these feelings and behaviours, and what past and present experiences might be influencing and impacting you, and how you navigate life, and explore ways in which you could change unhelpful or repeated patterns and behaviours.
I have completed a 1-year certified Foundation Course in Psychotherapy and Counselling at the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF) and am continuing with my training at (BPF) to qualify as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist. The BPF is an accredited member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and I adhere to their code of ethics.
In addition to my psychotherapy training, I am a certified Mental Health First Aider (MHFA UK) and have volunteered extensively, including providing emotional support to children and families in the Burns Unit at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, and since October 2023 I have served as a listening volunteer for a charity that offers confidential one-on-one face-to-face support to individuals experiencing suicidal feelings.
