Lucy Lamia Tatarusanu:
Trainee Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (BACP student member)
Hello! My name is Lucy Lamia Tatarusanu (she/her) and I am a trainee psychodynamic psychotherapist working in the low-cost therapy and counselling service at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London E8.
My main therapeutic method is Psychodynamic and is heavily influenced by intersectional, trans-inclusive feminist, queer and trans-affirmative approaches, theories and philosophy.
My feminist, queer and trans-affirmative approach to therapy has been informed by Trans philosophers, such as Paul B. Preciado and Judith Butler, and the experiences of Queer and Trans people in the community and therapy.
To briefly explain the concepts that I have mentioned above, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy often focuses on both the present and the past, on the influence of past experiences on the present as well as on the client’s history of patterns of behaviours and experiences.
In addition, it seeks to bring to the client’s awareness of those patterns and influences in order for them to be reflected upon and understood as much as possible. Intersectionality refers to the differing social labels and identities which a person may attribute to oneself or which may be attributed to a person and how their intersection affects the experiences of the person.
My training has been through the Master’s degree MA Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy programme at Goldsmiths, University of London, where I am in the process of qualifying.
I am also a trainee member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and adhere to their code of ethics, ensuring a welcoming, confidential, and non-judgmental environment for all my clients.
Before beginning my psychodynamic psychotherapy training, I completed an Undergraduate Master of Arts in Psychology with an additional focus on Philosophy and Social Psychology. This Undergraduate degree provided me with a deep understanding of mental health in relation to biology, consciousness and societal elements and factors as well as with skills such as the Socratic Method of Questioning.
If talking is not the primary method of expressing yourself, I can also offer artistic expression or musical expression whenever needed. However, as this was not taught by my course but self-taught, I can only offer a limited range in comparison to Art Therapy / Art Psychotherapy or Music Therapy and their respective therapists.
For those wanting therapy in a different language, I am native in Romanian and can offer therapy in Romanian
