Joe Sarah:
Integrative Therapist In Training (BACP student member)
Hello, my name is Joe Sarah, and I am a second-year integrative psychotherapy and counselling student studying at The Minster Centre.
I work from an integrative perspective, drawing on Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Existential and Embodied approaches. This allows me to adapt dynamically to your needs as we work together and deepen our therapeutic bond.
Therapy is an opportunity for self-reflection that can lead to personal growth. By creating a safe and supportive environment that is genuine and without judgment, we may deepen your self-understanding.
From there, we can unpick patterns and navigate the difficult moments in your life—past, present and future. Through this exploration, you make sense of what has happened, open up your future potential, and ground yourself in the present.
Since some feelings are hard to put into words, I am curious about how emotions may come up in the body and breath, and I might invite you to explore this. I can guide you through mindfulness techniques to bring awareness to your bodily sensations, helping you ground your emotions. This can be particularly helpful in dealing with stress and anxiety.
Relationships form the bedrock of a meaningful and joyful existence, but they are by no means easy to maintain. It can be challenging to open up to someone, but we may begin to heal our deepest wounds through trust and authentic relating.
I am committed to working with you to explore these relationships—whether social, familial, sexual, or otherwise. Through our work, we may find ways to foster growth and nurture the connections in your life.
I am deeply interested in our cultural lives and believe that my competence in working with diversity is critical to forming a therapeutic alliance. I endeavour to stay well-informed and reflect on how my own identity and privilege shape the therapeutic space while also being sensitive to yours.
About Me:
While I was born in London, my family has a long migration history. I am particularly interested in how equality and identity operate in our world and have had the privilege of exploring this in my volunteer work with refugee charities.
- I began training at The Minster Centre on the Foundation Course in 2022. Previously, I worked as a self-employed photographer, building up a career despite never attending university.
- I am a trainee member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
- I am currently conducting face-to-face sessions at HQ Haggerston on Sundays from 10am. to 1pm.
I look forward to hearing from you and supporting you on your journey.
Joe
