Tawakalitu Fagbohunka (Gbemi):
Pluralistic Trainee Counsellor (BACP student member)
My name is Tawakalitu Fagbohunka, but you can call me Gbemi. I’m a student counsellor currently on an 18-month placement, and I’m here to create a supportive space where you can truly be yourself.
Growing up, I was taught that therapy was either a luxury for the rich or a crutch for the weak.
This misconception made therapy seem distant and irrelevant. However, my personal journey with counselling has shown me its profound impact, and I now believe deeply in its power to bring about positive change in anyone’s life.
Therapy isn’t about quick fixes or magical solutions. I’m not here to play the role of a fairy godmother, nor do I have all the answers. Instead, my goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely.
It’s a space where you can be unapologetic in your feelings, embrace your authentic self, and work through whatever challenges you may be facing.
Counselling is a journey, and every step you take is a testament to your courage and resilience. I’m here to walk alongside you as you navigate this path. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, self-doubt, or just trying to figure things out, I believe in the value of being heard, understood, and supported.
My approach is centred on empathy and respect. I want to empower you to express yourself fully and honestly, without fear of judgment or criticism.
Together, we’ll work on understanding your experiences and emotions, helping you to grow, heal, and ultimately thrive. Therapy is a tool for everyone, not just a select few, and I’m committed to helping you realize its benefits in your life.
So, let’s embark on this journey together.
Your story matters, and I’m here to listen, support, and guide you in becoming the best version of yourself
