Angela Connealy Humanistic Integrative Counsellor London E8Angela Connealy:

Angela Connealy Humanistic Integrative Counsellor (MBACP)

My name is Angela Connealy and I’m a fully qualified and registered MBACP Humanistic Counsellor working with adults and young people. I currently see clients both in person at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston, Hackney, London E8 and online.

People from all walks of life may at some point seek therapy. This can be for a variety of reasons. Whether it’s due to difficulties with relationships or family life, depression, anxiety, work or study-related stress, bereavement and loss, or past traumas affecting the present – therapy can provide much-needed support.

Therapy offers a safe space where any issues and concerns or any difficulties you may be experiencing can be explored. At the heart of my practice is trust, openness and the understanding that our relationship is the key component for successful therapeutic outcomes. This process should lead to meaningful and long-lasting changes.

How I work:
I see therapy as a collaborative endeavour between us that allows you to openly explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I offer a warm and calm space and I aim to provide support within an atmosphere of empathy and trust.

My approach is integrative, which means I draw on a range of approaches to tailor the therapy to your individual needs. We will work at your own pace and find the approach that works best for you.

Together we can begin to make sense of any difficult experiences you have had and work towards making positive changes in your life through a better understanding of who you are and where you want to go.

I work with clients who are suffering from a range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, identity, ADHD, relationship problems, loneliness, low self-esteem, trauma, addiction, bereavement, grief and loss.

Training and experience:
I have an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I’ve completed training in therapeutic modalities such as Humanistic Counselling, Psychodynamic Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I’m a full member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work within their ethical framework.

Before training as a counsellor I worked in the film business for many years.

What to expect:
Sessions last 50 minutes. I’m available to see clients for both short and long-term work, in person or online with clients across the UK.

I offer a free initial 15-minute introductory phone call. This is so we can talk through your needs and requirements and to ensure you’re happy to proceed.

Fees:
My standard fee is £70 per session.

I offer a sliding scale, £40-£55, for those who are struggling financially, through HQ’s Concessionary Rate service. Please contact me for more details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
