Katherine Usher:
Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor (MBACP)
Hello. I’m Katherine Usher, a Humanistic Integrative Therapist and couples counsellor, working at HQ Therapy Rooms in Haggerston and Dalston, Hackney and online with clients across the UK.
I am registered with the BACP, holding an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Therapy (BACP accredited course), and a Practitioner’s Certificate in Intimate Partner Therapy (COSRT accredited course).
As a Humanistic Integrative therapist, I use a range of therapeutic models that are rooted in the belief that we all possess the capacity for growth, and that insight and self-awareness are the starting points for positive change.
I draw largely on psychodynamic schools of thought, which look at how our early experiences may unconsciously be impacting us in the present day. The significance of relationships is also central to my approach, looking at how we connect with others, ourselves, and in partnerships.
Theories I incorporate include Psychodynamic theory, Attachment Theory, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt therapy, Person-Centred Theory, CBT, and IFS, as well as awareness of our bodies and nervous system responses.
For couples therapy, I also draw on a variety of frameworks and models, placing the wellbeing of the relationships at the centre. We will explore feelings, their meanings, and your responses as well as psycho-education and strategies to enhance the relationship.
This includes understanding each partner’s emotional landscape, building a better understanding of your partner, yourself and your relationship dynamics, improving communication, resolving conflicts and building on the strengths of the relationship.
I provide an empathic, pragmatic and straightforward approach to therapy, to give you a space where you can explore yourself freely and openly. The process is collaborative and we’ll work together to find ways of working that suit you.
We will uncover underlying patterns, and foster insight and self-compassion to help you cultivate deeper self-understanding and begin to create positive change.
Topics for therapy might include Anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, attachment, childhood trauma, C-PTSD, identity exploration, life transitions, personal growth goals, communication, conflict resolution, intimacy issues, infidelity, re-establishing trust and connection in relationship, relationship enrichment.
I know that embarking on therapy can be daunting, and finding the right therapist is really important. Feel free to get in touch for an initial chat to see if we might be a good match.
