Jess McKee Integrative Therapist London E8Jessica McKee:

Integrative Therapist (BACP)

Hi, I’m Jess McKee (She/her). A qualified integrative therapist delivering sessions both online and in East London at HQ Therapy Haggerston, Hackney E8.

Being a human is hard, it’s messy and nobody is immune to challenging circumstances or tough times. I like to offer my clients a warm, non-judgemental, safe space to explore and unpack anything that they may feel is impacting on their mental well-being.

After over a decade working as a fitness coach and yoga teacher I came to the notion that just as there are many reasons and benefits for seeking out movement and exercise, that can be applied to therapy too. Some people seek out movement to rehab from a significant injury, others may have an accumulation of smaller injuries to rehabilitate, some people have health concerns ranging from mild to potentially fatal, and others take part in regular movement to maintain overall physical fitness.

This is also true for therapy. It can help with past trauma, maybe one significant life-changing moment.

It can help with the accumulation of life events or stressors. It can support concerns you may have for your overall quality of life that can range from mild to potentially fatal. It can also be used, in my opinion, as a tool to simply help maintain overall mental well-being and to help navigate life’s messiness.

I would like to think going to therapy would one day be as commonplace as going to the gym or a class. However, I understand why seeking support for our internal world feels more vulnerable.

With this in mind, I draw upon various modalities to ensure the work is client-specific. I have a range of mind/body tools to create a bespoke way of working with your unique story. I work in an empathetic, encouraging way to co-create a space that works best for you.

Many clients have found my experience and qualifications in yoga useful (when appropriate) for offering tools to help ground and regulate. This can be of particular use if you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed.

In addition to working as a therapist, I volunteer for a grief support charity and have a particular interest in grief and loss. This could be the loss of a person or part of yourself, your identity, or anything that feels significant to you.

I came into this profession by way of experiencing therapy and its benefits personally so I am a true believer in the healing and helping capacity of therapy both as a client and a therapist. I understand that it can be really difficult to reach out and I want to give a nod to you for making it this far.

Whatever spiked your curiosity I would love the opportunity to talk further.

I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their code of ethics and guidelines

I offer a free 15-minute initial chat via Zoom and then if you’d like to work with me sessions are £65

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.
