Marina Paes:
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist (BACP, BPC, TSP)
My name is Marina Paes and I am an experienced Psychodynamic Psychotherapist working in a NHS Specialist Psychotherapy Service and in private practice.
About Psychotherapy:
Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to explore any struggles, emotions, and thoughts and gain a deeper understanding of the difficulties that might have brought someone to look for help. Psychotherapy can be beneficial to anyone who has some wish and potential for change.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy aims to bring about awareness of unconscious patterns in behaviour or meanings that might be contributing to the person’s problems.
I believe that understanding should help to improve well-being, both mental and emotional, and facilitate change.
About me:
I am a qualified Intercultural Psychodynamic Psychotherapist by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. I have completed a Masters’s degree in Psychoanalytic Studies, also at the Tavistock, and hold a first-class Psychology degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP). I am currently concluding the Interdisciplinary Training in Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (M1) at the Tavistock (full public sector training).
Over the past 16 years, I have offered weekly, intensive, intermittent, couple,s and group psychotherapy to people with a very wide range of mental health problems, of varying severity and complexities, in different settings. I have worked in different NHS secondary care services, other NHS and third-sector services, and in private practice.
Professional bodies:
I am a member of the British Psychotherapy Council (BPC – 22713), a registered British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP – 381287), and the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists (TSP). I work to ensure these professional bodies’ professional standards.
Sessions:
The initial consultation is a confidential space where we can think together about you and any difficulties you might be experiencing and how we could work together going forward. We can then discuss the fee, length, and frequency of the treatment. Sessions usually last 50 minutes.
I offer sessions online, in English and Portuguese (Brazilian).
