Shanaz Begum Integrative Counsellor and Coach London E8Shanaz Begum:

Integrative Counsellor and Coach (MBACP)

Hello! My name is Shanaz Begum and I am an Integrative Counsellor & Coach at HQ Therapy. I am currently seeing clients in person and online, offering both long-term and short-term therapy.

About me:
I was drawn to counselling as a career due to the positive experiences of my own personal therapy. Through the process, I gained a better understanding of myself and how to live my life in accordance with my personal values.

I believe everyone can benefit from a safe, non-judgmental space to explore their current life experiences, address past issues, and move forward with greater self-awareness, optimism, and purpose.

Alongside my therapy work, I work as a Health Coach in GP surgeries. With years of experience supporting people with chronic health issues and mental health challenges. I take a holistic approach to understanding the physical, emotional, and social factors affecting well-being.

Using a person-centred approach, I collaborate with clients to identify personal strengths and uncover hidden resources, boosting self-knowledge and personal resilience. This empowers clients to take control of their own well-being.

How I work:
My therapeutic approach is the Personal Consultancy Model which integrates counselling and coaching as a therapeutic framework to maximise personal growth.

I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can explore and work through your inner and outer conflicts at your own pace. I provide Counselling and Coaching face-to-face, online, and through Walk and Talk Therapy

Counselling:
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on several therapeutic approaches, including Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), allowing me to tailor my counselling methods to match your needs.

This approach enhances your understanding of your life experiences by processing what has happened in the past and enabling you to make sense of the present.

Coaching:
Life isn’t just about the present; it’s also about the future. This is where coaching helps create lasting change. As an accredited coach, I can support you in making meaningful life changes.

When you’re ready, I’ll collaborate with you using coaching methods to make decisions that align with your values, helping you move forward with greater self-awareness, optimism, and purpose.

Walk and Talk Therapy:
Walk and Talk Therapy blends traditional counselling and/or coaching with walking in local parks. Walking can reduce anxiety, improve mood, and boost physical health, while also helping clients feel more comfortable and open by conducting sessions walking side by side rather than sitting face to face.

This is ideal if you feel more at ease outdoors, have difficulty sitting still, or find traditional therapy settings intimidating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Seek Therapy?

Many people, new to this type of help, believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems”, or be in crisis in order for therapy and counselling to be appropriate for them. This is a common misconception; anyone can benefit from therapy when it comes to helping you deal with your personal feelings and problems, make positive changes in your life, and understand yourself better.

So what is therapy and counselling? If you’re new to this world then the first steps can sometimes be the most difficult. Therapy can be a very effective treatment for a whole range of personal problems covering areas from physical and emotional problems, different types of behavioural disorders, through to human sexuality issues and a host of wellbeing and complementary therapy techniques.

Any problem you have that is causing you concern, anxiety or distress is a valid and appropriate reason to reach out and find a therapist and talk to them about it. Far from something to be ashamed of, acknowledging your vulnerability and asking for help is a sign of maturity and strength.

If you feel that you have a desire and are committed to making changes in your life in order to overcome your current problems and achieve more long-term satisfaction, psychological wellbeing and personal fulfilment, then you are ready to seek therapy. We are here to help you work through a wide range of therapy issues that might be troubling you.

Will Information About Me Be Safe & Secure?

It is quite normal to be hesitant when it comes to sharing private and intimate information about yourself with a stranger. You may fear that you will receive judgment from your therapist, or that your therapist will share your details with others.

HQ Therapy Rooms takes your privacy and confidentiality very seriously. Our therapists are required to keep everything said in therapy sessions between you, just like your doctor is required to keep your records private.

For therapy to be effective, there must be unconditional trust built between you and your therapist, and this relies on a shared understanding of confidentiality. It applies to the outside world as well: it is standard practice for therapists not to acknowledge their clients if they run into them outside of the therapy rooms in order to help protect their client’s confidentiality. Read our full privacy policy for more information.

It feels good to be listened to and to know that someone cares about you and wants to help. It is important that you find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and can build a trusting relationship to help you make positive changes in your life.
